Do you think that growing up in the South during Richard Wright’s time was better or worse than today? Give some reasons for your opinion.
It would be worse because there would still be racism and today its not that much. Also because of the way they used to get punished for doing something stupid or what they hadn’t done
What I thought was interesting about the documentary was that it said that Native son was so famous and that how many people liked it. It was like he was president they were marching for him and his book got sold out within 2 weeks, and that they even made it into a movie. Because of the book his name was added onto a wall of fame and he even got a prize.
Black Boy
In chapter 5, 6, 7 and 8 allot of things happen but I will only tell a few or else I will ruin the story. This chapter was about Richard didn’t have enough money for when he graduates to go to another’s school so he had to work to get more money so that he could go to school. He applied for 1 job but he didn’t like it because the woman told him that he was being stupid for wanting to write a book because she said that he is black that he is stupid so he could never write a book. Another day he applied for another job he also left that job because the families who where cursing at each other and he was being cursed at. When Richard went to school the principle told him he had to write a speech to tell to a whole bunch of white people, so Richard had prepared a speech. One day Richard gets called into the principles office and he is told that he has to read a speech that the principle prepared because the principle doesn’t think that his speeches good enough for the white folks. But Richard didn’t want to so he said that he was going to read his own speech until the principle blackmailed him saying that if he didn’t read the speech he was given he wouldn’t graduate.
Blackboy
Black Boy is a biography about Richard Wright. He writes about when he was small and all the trouble he got into. I find this book okay but it doesn’t really make me that interested in it, because how he writes it is a bit boring for example he write about 2-3 pages only describing how the air smelled and how it looked around him and skips or makes the interesting parts shorter like a paragraph. Other than that its an okay book, i only read till chapter 4 and only a few interesting things happened but not that many.

Holland
In Holland allot of people of people bike. We celebrate something called Sinterklaas, which is close to Santa clause but earlier, and he has followers called Zwarte piet. What they do is they come to school usually and throw something that they call Peppernotjes, which are like cookies but smaller and round. We also get presents for this and they still celebrate Santa Clause. In Holland they also celebrate Queens day which they celebrate the Queens birthday but its not on the date of the Queens birthday because on her birthday its all rainy and cold to they celebrate it on the mother of the Queens birthday.
They say he comes from Spain and comes to Holland on his boat and if your naughty he puts you in his sack and takes you to Spain. In Holland they are known for their cheese, wooden shoes and windmills. Only small amounts of people still wear the wooden shoes but there all allot of windmills. In Holland we use military time like 15:00which is 3:00 pm.
The Netherlands School
In Holland I live near the school so I can just bike there. At school every class is 45 minutes, the longest day is 8th period, which is from 8:30 – 15:30 (3:30). The shortest days either start at 9:15 – 15:30 or start at 8:30 – 2:30. Our subjects are gym, English, math, science, social studies, drama, art, French, challenge hour, Dutch, activity and mentor hour. If were at school till 8th period we have three breaks, snack, lunch and break, they are all 15 minutes but actually 10 because the bell rings 5 minutes earlier so u can get your things from the locker. We get allot of tests even for gym, the test that we do in gym is called a beep test, what you have to do in a beep test is the teacher has a radio with techno music and when it goes beep you have to run to the other side and if it goes beep before u crossed the line your out you have to reach level 7 to get a pass. In Holland the grading is different because we don’t have A, B, C, D and F but we get a mark out of 6,7,8 and even 10.

when i read this book at first i was all excited and when i continued reading i thought it was really cool because Matt the boy that has the powers finds 1 of the 5 children and he goes to like all these cool places but he gets lost on they way because his friend gets kidnapped and he had all the money. so he slept on the streets until a hobo boy came and tried to talk to Matt but Matt didn’t understand because he only spoke spanish. The boy understood english so Matt asked him if he could help find his friend that was kidnaped. I wont tell the rest because it gets really interesting and i will just spoil it for you.
this book is a dramatic book and sort of a thriller
i would really recommend this book to someone that does like a fantasy book that isn’t to fake like harry potter, i would also recommend this book to people that love thriller books because this book has some scary bits but not as scary as the first one “Ravens Gate” which is also very good.
this book is one of my all time favorites its like a perfect book for me.

This book so far is pretty good its the second series the first one was ravens gate which was also very good so i would think that this one will be good as well. Death Star is a thriller i think because Ravens Gate was a thriller.
